Folks, JRT:

There seems to be an understanding here that a small spray bottle of cold water does wonders to control feline misbehavior, but as in aiming any projectile source, one must be aware of a clear background as television sets and other electronics do not mix well with liquids.
This remedy should only be used rarely as cats have been known to plan retribution by stepping next to your hot coffee cup, etc. at the worst possible time.

This body has been made aware that one cat may be different from another. The jury is still out on a cat's determination.

Solutions you may not find in Brookstone's website are below:

My idea of forcibly inviting said cat into sharing a cold shower was amply demonstrated by me to be fairly ineffective and injurious to arms and clothes. It also seems to tick off the cat.
It did however resulted in a cleaner shower bottom and gave me an idea for cleaning other porcelain items.
You know, raise lid, insert cat, close lid and flush.
Step two. Stay out of direct path between fixture and door and raise lid.
Step three. Wear helmet to bed the night after cat owner finds out how you cleaned bathroom.

However, I understand someone else has a patent pending on that very idea.

I have heard of other measures including narrow cabinets being brought into the bathroom in which an empty drawer or cubbyhole a roll of pristine hygenic paper of any color can be hidden and locked.

If your cat counts an enterprising racoon among its friends all bets are off.
