Well said. Football?? You say Brits play football? Oh, THAT football. Do not fret, our soccer team only came in 4th last year and that's the best we've done for forty years.

We have many American "football" teams over here. Surely at least one of them has a poorer record than yours? If so, we have a commonality to build our coalition upon. This is no doubt the primary reason (since that mess in 1814) that we have tended to stand together.

As for that minor little Falklands conflict, I seem to remember you chaps getting quite a bit of help at the US taxpayer's expense. Trust me, we did not begrudge you a thin dime. And most of us thought you'd give them a good thrashing, which you did. Particularly since we knew that that stalwart warrior from the palace was going to be participating and on hand.

It was a bit sticky diplomatically as we happened to be friends with both parties. At these times you learn who your real friends are.

Hmmmmm. Those Harriers were pretty much state-of-the art then weren't they. You didn't mention them yet they were of some help, right? Who sold that ruddy Exorcet to the Spanish speaking side anyway? We should both have a nasty scrap with that bunch whomever they may be... Let's see now, Exorcet, that sounds French to me.

Another deadly "designer" bug is on the loose or perhaps this is actually a natural plague set upon us by an irate Mother Nature. Having just heard about this terrible new virus attacking everyone in China and Vietnam and I believe there are a few cases already in Canada, I stopped to put on my little white mask and wonder if it isn't better to be shot instantly dead in battle rather than die at home in bed, wet with urine, and coughing up a lung? Back in 1918 if you were incredibly lucky you could do both. There was a great flu epidemic at home and in the trenches.

That is no way to go. Neither gets my vote.
