Well here it is our tenth anniversary and who would have thunk this mess would last this long ten years ago? It has been a long and pleasant romp for me and I hope that many others have enjoyed at least some of it with me. Thanks to Old Dux, McGonigle, PV1 and C51 there has always been something worth reading posted here. We have missed our Fearless Founder SNAFU AKA Mark Carroll for many years now. In spite of his great loss we have striven to maintain the spirit and high standard of HWH Continued set by its founder. We hope that wherever he may be that he is somehow aware of it and pleased.
For those of you who missed the celebration let me describe all the fun for you.
The Tenth Anniversary festivities held at the Studley Grange Community hall were well underway when our retired Beefeater, LeRoy, wheeled out a huge, beautifully decorated cake all iced in pink with purple lettering. That cake was as big as a beer barrel and nearly five feet tall. JRT, Dux, C51, PV1 and of course the always thirsty, always hungry McGonigle adjusted their colorful party hats and quickly gathered around the beautiful confection. Their eyes were wide in hungry expectation and their mouths were already drooling. LeRoy began passing out colorful paper plates and forks.
JRT made a short speech and everyone clapped because he had finally shut up. Dux was next and he received much the same treatment in response to what he said. The hungry crowd was getting unruly. The other HWH regulars seeing how this was going wisely demurred when asked to speak so without further ado the Studley Grange Pipe Fitters, Custodians and Canine Hairdressers brass band played a rousing fanfare. At that precise moment (we know this because something hard hit the big clock on the wall and broke it) a scantily clad Olga burst right out of the top of that cake to the complete surprise of every man in the house.
Before the fertilizer had hit the cooling device or the icing had hit the wall there was nothing left to be seen of the five founders save for their colorful party hats still spinning in the air....
I thought you lads might like to have a rather nice keepsake of this auspicious event so I created a personalized HWH patch. This one is for Dux but anyone wishing one like it with your name should post a request and I will be happy to e-mail one to you.
And finally it seemed appropriate to the occasion to have a valuable commemorative medallion struck in precious metal. Sparing no expense I had the talented lads at the Studley Grange Iron works, Drive in Hair Salon and Used Tire Center stamp out a few in pure platinum for each of you. Have you priced a load of pure platinum lately? By pure platinum of course I mean pure lead. Unfortunately being made of lead they are a might heavy at five pounds each and too expensive to ship. You'll just have to come and get yours.
Happy tenth anniversary everyone and happy Easter.
