Greif1,

This area is referred to as the North Midlands generally although it is often erroneously lumped-in with the North-West region for the purposes of weather and news reports.

Derbyshire witnessed nothing of the aerial Battle of Britain as defined by historians. All that is supposed to have taken place within the boundaries of 10,11 and 12 Group.
There must have been many a pilot who was peeved not to receive the Battle of Britain Bar because his claim fell outside those Groups even though such victories were earned during that period!

Being well catered for by Duxford offerings I rarely get down to the South-East although I would like to spend some time around Romney, Hawkinge, and Ashford where there are several BoB museums. That is classic BoB country.
