Because of your known interests here in the colonies I thought you'd be interested in a TV show I watched this morning. There was quite a bit shown about new discoveries at Jamestown in Virginia and some information about "The Lost Colony" here on the Outer Banks in N.C. The consensus now is that both colonies suffered from serious and almost unprecedented drought conditions. The earlier colony succumbed and as we all know, the latter did not. Really atrocious luck that they both were established at a time of such unusual scarcity. Of course in the case of Jamestown the James River certainly never completely dried up and that must have helped them.
