Better safe than sorry. No one has ever lost anything from being too secure.

Right now (8PM)it is calm with a heavy overcast. No appreciable rain since early this morning. You would not know what awaits us tomorrow by the conditions of today. The ground is already saturated so flooding is expected. Trees are easier to uproot if the ground is soggy as well.

The last time I checked the weather channel(I do so about every 5 minutes it seems) the Storm track carries this bastid's eye right over our town of Rocky Mount sometime late tomorrow. The main question is how strong will it be after crossing Florida to the Atlantic where it might get stronger again before crossing into our state. We are in for it regardless.

What is it about the I-95 corridor that makes it such a storm magnet? This will not be the first giant storm spawned in the remote tropics to make a bee-line for our little grove of trees.

Whatever tomorrow brings it should be somewhat less than what Florida got. I am sincerely concerned for those folks in Florida who have taken the major category 4 brunt of Charlie. We have a close friend who is visiting her mother down in St. Augustine, Florida. They are directly in harm's way tonight and we are much concerned for their safety. Contact by phone was lost around 3PM. Please cross your fingers with us. These storms are life threatening by themselves even without the tornadoes that often accompany them. We've already had one deadly tornado. This one was created by TS Bonnie. That tornado caused a fatality yesterday. A father was killed trying to save his family from the sudden storm. That's a heart breaker. It reminds us too that while property is important, survival is the main thing with any natural disaster.

Thanks for asking about us SNAFU and for your friendly concern for our well being. Keep us posted regarding your circumstances as well. This time it looks like you might get some of it after it finishes with us.

If after the storm has passed you should be out jogging, driving or boating and you see someone in a pirate's outfit hanging in a tree....please do stop and help me down. :rolleyes:
