Folks,

SNAFU:

There are days when just a few well chosen words of encouragement go quite a long way. Today is such a day. Thank you friend. You have literally been the wind in my sails far more often than you probably know.

The wife is still suffering miserably from that hateful bug and though it seems like ages ago, I have felt a lot better myself. Cough, Hack! This virus and the aftermath is a tenacious and pitiless thing.

Take special care you or your family do not get it. It starts with a sore throat that feels like someone has put a lit cigar down your throat and won't remove it. From that point on it just gets worse. And long after the virus is dead and gone (about 3 days) the after-effects linger and linger.

Have no fear whatsoever of any short comings you may imagine regarding your stories. IMHO they are as good as any posted here and better than all in some ways that are most enjoyable. I am certainly looking forward to your next one.

BTW. Get hold of "Finest Hour" if you can, it is turning out to be quite a good BOB book. I picked my copy up at the public library. One thing you notice right away is that unlike most books about the time, and BOB books in particular, this one starts off in May 1940 in France (take note Old Dux).

As for the pilot JRT, your comments are too kind. He returned to base triumphant and unscathed from a huge, mixed furball once more today. Everyone was deliriously happy to greet him. Of coarse his fitter was heard to mention to his rigger that it would have been so nice if he had returned with the Spitfire he had earlier flown away with.
