Folks,

Dux:

A white-hot e-mail from the blistering south should be lying there steaming up your cool, rusty mailbox.

On second thought perhaps it is hotter there in the UK than here? We will have temps up to the century mark this week with the heat index even higher. Our countrymen in the mid-west have it even worse than we do.

This is supposed to be the peak of the summer heat for us according to previous averages kept by the peerless prognosticators. Averages don't seem to be good predictors anymore. Let us hope there will be no hurricanes hitting our coast this year. The hurricane season lasts into November so we have a long wait. In my experience unless a tree falls on you or you lose everything to flooding the worst of a hurricane's aftermath for most folks may be the hours or days they sit sweltering, stinky and thirsty waiting for the electricity to be turned back on.
