Folks,

Dux:

Aye, but like the young doe bending down to drink from a quiet stream as an interested Satyr approaches her from behind, what we do not know...may indeed hurt us, in the end. ;\)

As for that bottle of JD supposedly left in our care, the seal was not intact when we received it and it was in fact already completely filled with a very weak, cold tea. Since we were charged with saving the bottle for you Jens, the only reason we know that it was full of tea is because C51 and I were concerned with your health and welfare. With the seal broken we felt obligated by friendship to take a small sip... just to make sure of the genuineness and quality of the contents.

As we chaps from the colonies are accustomed to having our tea chilled, and knowing full well that you'd not care for such a weak beverage, we finished off the lot and threw the empty through the open window of the colonel's residence. We did that just after writing Dux's name, rank and serial number on the label of course. The bottle made a mighty crash. There instantly followed several female screams, a man's loud cursing and then every light in the house began coming on.

Just as the porch light came on, the long barrel of a rifle also appeared pointing in our direction from an open downstairs window. I took my cue from that and hollered "You shouldn't have done that Dux" and C51 and I quickly made ourselves scarce, bullets zinging past our ears.

I wouldn't fret too much about it Dux Old Man. There must be hundreds, nay, even thousands of chaps answering to the name Dux in the service of his Majesty these days. How could they possibly sort you out? Wait, C51 is tugging at my sleeve..... Yes, there is that one sticky point regarding the rank and serial number written on the label.

Did I mention that we overheard Olga saying she was also looking for you Dux? Both C51 and I were attending to important business up in a very tall tree at that particular moment when she passed underneath and was heard mumbling to herself. Were we not so busy at the time we would have climbed down and not just called out to her from the safety of the branches above regarding your probable whereabouts. No thanks expected. What are friends for?

Well, C51 let us be off to our Dirt Week celebrations. I cannot bear to watch as Olga has her wicked way with our pal Dux. It will be a disappointment to the colonel not to be able to geld the old boy himself however by the time Olga finishes with Dux he will in all probability be, as the French put it, 'sans connerie'.
