The last time I was in Europe (way too long ago) I noticed some Halloween happenings and noticed what seemed to be the start of a movement. It was a little bit surprising, but fun.
To see the Black Friday mentality cross the ocean should be less surprising but somehow it isn't. At least the sales are not. What would be surprising would be some of the not-as -nice aspects of the event, fights in the stores, etc. in Europe. I have only experienced one Black Friday shopping day. Pretty sure that will not happen again.
Hope your new toy works out, MG. One of the neat things about the season is the smell of of burning wood from fireplaces. Not as common since the price of wood is high now and like MG, we find the advantage of electric fireplaces is the convenience and looks. This house has one of the gas-fed one, (rarely used due to the climate), but going outside the smell of someone using a wood fireplace seems to hit a spot.
That nostalgia might have to wait until after the weekend. After three days...and nights... of rain, the sun is peeking through. Due to the temperatures fog was in play here. But that's much better than the frigid cold and snow a lot of the country has been experiencing.
