Yes, even I have several un-Civil War artifacts. Indeed they still turn up UXBs (unexploded bombs) now and again in England and in Germany. In France they still dig up unexploded shells from the first world war.
Another point I tried to make in this simple story was that one man's treasure may be another's trash. In the story, Toby has obviously failed to tell his family about the crash of the Spitfire.
Unless we pass along our knowledge of the events of WW2 to our progeny they will likely place no value upon such artifacts or perhaps they may even fail to recognize them or even celebrate the sacrifice and bravery of those who endured WW2 altogether.
