Beautiful sunny and calm day at Spurn Point lifeboat station. That promontory at the mouth of the Humber which is expected to be swept away before many more years. Our 'haul' included the Red- backed Shrike, Shore Lark, and a new one for me, the Wryneck Jynx torquilla of the woodpecker genus. About 45 Pink-footed geese passed over from the direction of Hull heading SE. This is several weeks early. Could this be significant for the coming winter?
