I've frequently heard people say Hamilton is only so successful because he has the best car.
Although it's true that he would likely not be successful if he was driving a Haas, I think people often forget that great drivers like Hamilton and Schumacher play a huge role in the development, testing, and refinement of their cars.
So maybe his cars are also good because an experienced driver helped get them to that point through their technical feedback and interaction with their race engineers.
It's not like Mercedes just drops the finished product in his lap and Lewis says "Cool!" and drives off to victory.
