cant make the skins server side? (ie embedd in mission like the audio)?
I don't think so but if someone knows better I'd love to learn. It's like the Nevada terrain. The only ones that would see it are those that have those files on their PC......at least that's my understanding.
I have never heard of a capability to include additional skins in a .miz file. The pictures and audio files can be added through built-in interfaces for getting those objects into the mission.
The a/c skins are selected through the armament screen, but there is no user control to add in more of them. Perhaps a .lua file could be modified.
FYI - adding pictures and sound files does add a lot to the mission file size, making Join times longer. And there is a 'bug' on the Reload Mission Trigger, where that copies the reload-mission into the .miz file and can almost double the .miz size.

PS - Blooze you do some nice graphics work.
The a/c skins are selected through the armament screen, but there is no user control to add in more of them. I have added more of them numerous times on my machine. The selection menu on the armament screen accesses dds (skin image files) files for each default skin available in DCS World. A new set of dds files can be created and inserted in that directory. A new title can be created in the livery so that when you acccess the drop down menu to select a skin for that mission, the new name will appear in the menu and if selected will enable the new dds skin files to be used. But I still think that the only way for anyone other than the server to see the new skins they would also have to have the new files loaded on their PC.
I'm talking about how to get them added to a mission such that everyone could see the artwork. It would not be a choice at that point for Clients to pick what skin they wanted - it would have to be assigned to the Clients like the initial weps loadout is. The sound files work great to play on everyone's Client machines, but they sure do take a bit to download each time someone joins a mission.
A skin cannot be changed after entering into a mission, and MP missions don't offer a way to change a skin.
When I did SimHQ racing, we would send skins to guod and he would incorporate them into the 'mission' race download package, and everyone could see everybody's cars - neat stuff - but then everyone in the races was dedicated to their racing slot/car.

Good point. The way to do that would be if the server assigned the 104th skins for a mission, as an example. And instead of creating a new name for the new skins, the 104th skins would be modified with new graphics but retain the same name. That way the clients would be forced to see the 104th skins as assigned by the server but everyone would then see the modified version of the skins.
