I was flying overhead in an F-15 'round angels 30, and could see armoured units going at it at 50+ miles away, couldnt see the vehicles, but could definately see the smoke from the weapons and explosions.
it's like the Effects are rendered regardless of being in your FoV or outside of any Visibility Range.
