Unless they changed anything since the last time I played, heavy weapons were tough to use without Fallout First. The amount of ammo you needed, with the weight of the guns and maybe Power Armor on top of it ate up most of your storage space. They were one of the best for events at the time though. A few of the people I played with switched to other builds that didn't require so much ammo. Usually rifles, either semi or auto, and the crazy ones went with shotguns. On the other hand, happiness is a belt fed weapon and it's fun to just cut loose with those miniguns or 50cals.
