Albert - Actually such a mod could be made, but it would require the user to load each successive stage of the mod at the appropriate in-sim date via their mod enabler.

The men in the repair hangars had once more performed their magic. Major Frederick Abbott and his damaged Snipe arrived back in camp by afternoon tea yesterday, and the AMs set to work immediately. By breakfast time this morning they'd put their CO's kite back in proper order, having repaired the holed petrol tank and main feed line, swapped out a damaged cylinder and piston on the Bentley for a new set, and removed the Hun bullet that was wedged into the base of the control column and which had been preventing full movement of the elevator. Abbott commended them all on their untiring determination and loyalty, and on their ability to always get the job done PDQ. And with that it was now time, again, for Freddy and his pilots to go out and get their jobs done.


10:00am, still raining, but skies to the west apparently clearing, Major Abbott and 'A' Flight set out on a recce of the lines between Athies and Vimy.



Nearing the Bois de Robermont the Snipes happen upon a flight of SE5s.



Freddy pulls up along the leader's portside and the two gentlemen give each other a wave before they continue on their separate ways.



Over Neuville-Saint-Vaast a group of five DFWs is caught heading east and the King's own set to work ruining their morning.



Abbott carves in below one of the trailing Hun buses and hammers it with three volleys from the Vickers.



He turns to follow, but there is no need. Within seconds the enemy plane had dropped into a steep dive and was trailing smoke.



By the time the Major had swung back round to rejoin the fight it was nearly over. Amid myriad and indiscriminate AA bursts, his lads were dealing with the remaining Boche handily, and in the end none of the Kaiser's B/R planes made it home, though they did manage to get in a few punches of their own before falling. The Snipes of Lieutenant John Murray and Captain 'Lumpy' Bailey had both taken significant damage in the dust-up, and the pair had to land at Camblain-l'Abbe. The remaining five members of 'A' Flight returned to Fienvillers without further incident.



2:45pm, the skies had indeed cleared and Abbott, now working with 'B' Flight, headed up and out for an OP east beyond Bapaume.



At 16,500', and nearing the lines, the six Snipes happen upon an equal number of D.VIIs some distance below. The Major gives the signal and the battle begins.



Freddy immediately latches on to one of the higher Fokkers and pummels it with a crushing volley.



He leaves the Hun, now sans top portside wing and trailing smoke, to fall to his demise.



Again, the Major's men had things well in hand. At one point in the furball Abbott dove to the aid of the new lad, 2nd Lt. Lenny Heaton, who appeared to be in trouble. However, by the time Freddy got there the plucky fellow had turned the tables on his Hun and sent him down.



Spotting one of the D.VIIs attempting to make a run for it, Abbott gave chase and fired on the fleeing Fokker.



The Boche immediately went wheels up and Freddy followed to see if he would recover.



He did not, and with his demise the last of the air Hun had been dealt with. The Major regrouped his men and headed home to camp. As it turned out young Heaton had taken a bullet in his right leg and would be out of commission for a while, as would his mount which had taken damage as well. But overall a fine day's work for 43 Squadron, with the five DFWs claimed in the morning, and five of the six Fokkers in the afternoon. Of the ten Abbott had claimed three for his own.
