Definitely not as prevalent as they used to be Trooper, but they do still occur.

22 September 1916 Fienvillers, France
Dawn to dusk outings for Swany and his A Flight crews, to which the following pictures will bear witness.
The first sortie of the day, a contact patrol along the lines at Corcelette. A crescent moon fading in the early morning light. No air Hun are seen.
The second sortie was a scramble to chase after a pair of Aviatiks that attempted to bomb Fienvillers. Stalking the first one.
A good long volley from the Vickers and the Hun plane rolls over, trailing white smoke.
It never recovers and drops straight down into a stubble field a mile or so west of Beaumont-Hamel.
The second Aviatik caught in A Flight's withering cross-fire.
Engine dead along with the observer, Captain Swanson signals to the Hun pilot to follow him and land.
Brief moments later flames burst out from the cowling of the enemy plane, a trophy denied. The Strutters return to camp with two more claims to submit.
Coming home from the third sortie of the day, a recce of Delville Wood. Last light is disappearing, the sky once again empty of Huns.
