Oh wel... Maybe this is one of those movies I just don't "get" (The Thin Red Line was another)
I partly blame Hollywood marketing for my bad experience with "The Thin Red Line". In the tv commercials at the time it was very clearly portrayed as being "Saving Private Ryan but set n the Pacific". The film turned out to be VERY different from that so my expectations going in to see the film were completely wrong.
