I saw Dune recently, I also enjoyed it. Nice to see a grown-up sci-fi instead of the braindead Star Wars/Trek and superhero movies we get instead.
The sense of scale is pretty #%&*$# good. The slow burn is also welcome, although I'd have liked more attention to pushing the feudal nature of the galaxy's political state and the importance of the spice, these two ultimately important details were kind of glossed over and had maybe 1 or 2 sentences spoken to explain them. Without this the movie would feel somewhat detached I think - I only knew what was going on because I've seen Lynche's Dune so many times.
Also -
I'm never a fan of illogical "native ways", the senseless knife fight in the middle of the desert because "it's our way" resulting in an outsider killing and replacing (sort of) an important native character just feels like a let-down. It just doesn't make any sense on any level but I have to accept it?
