By the way, the documentary says 440 million cans of Campbell's soup are sold each year, 7 millions bowls eaten a day, half million dollars each hour. So many millions of people buying it means it's good to eat.
The US has over 330 million people (only India and China have more people) and Americans in general have shown that pretty much anything will be eaten regardless of quality!
Most of this series is set from the beginning of the 1900's to WWII (some later like burger and pizza wars) when many people weren't too picky about what they ate. Heinz came up with a clear bottle so you could see that your ketchup at least looked safe to eat. Early canning could also be hazardous to your health until lid crimping replaced welding. Very interesting and entertaining series to me. I plan to purchase this series on DVD if it's eventually offered.
