Pepper, this is actually what I meant previously: you will loosen the top screw on the pic so far that the bolt goes through the bottom hole as well. The bolt is precisely long enough to go from hole to hole, but you need to hold it in place by tightening the screws symmetrically, so it will stay centered. If you tighten one side too much, the bolt will come out of the hole on the other side, making the whole connection drop and wobble.
