Played a little over the weekend and took out Agheel, which a week ago I thought I'd never do, but it's just a matter of observation and reaction. Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, as we once sung. Tree Sentinel too.
There is so little explained in this game that if it weren't for the intraweb I'd be missing most everything. Like restoring power to a great rune. At no point did I see anything suggesting this was something to do until I saw it on the net. There are many things like this.
Level 50 now and still dual-wielding katanas which is working well, I think the move set is super slick and they seem to do the business, but I am casting coy glances at those curved greatswords Frank was sporting. Not enough stones to be using too many weapons at the mo though, and anyway I haven't found many good ones.
I think the reason Elden Ring has felt more my style than Dark Souls is the spirit ashes. Souls purists scoff at such things, but these have made boss fights winnable for me. Maybe I could have done it without them, but I suspect it would take many more tries and test my patience. By trying to over-level and using spirit ashes things are more in my wheelhouse.
I'm glad to read that you are getting the hang of defeating bosses which you previously felt were unbeatable! And yes, ER has a big reputation for being very enigmatic. Not much is explained at all in the game and the storyline can be rather mysterious too. ER even has an odd way of how you interact with NPC's. Usually you have to talk to them 3 times or more to get all the information out of them that they have to offer.
“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”
