not completely true, they already experience engine failed before, also temp loss of comms. they could had though it would be okay with the guy reassuring them, you dont hear crackle of pressure untill is all over like movies, you always hear the low thumping, and they would never hear the crack or even acknolege what it was before the doom. water would flood in faster than the sound making from the hull to their ears. also without power they wouldnt know they were free sinking.
