Battle of Britain II on Windows 10 and 11: the Modern Fix

If you've got a copy of Battle of Britain II sitting on a shelf because it won't run properly on a modern PC, this is for you.

The Modern Fix is a free mod for the 2.13 version of the game. It gets it running smoothly on Windows 10 and 11 at full resolution, with no crashes at start up, no black borders and no fiddling with compatibility settings. A setup wizard takes you through everything in a few minutes and explains each step before it changes anything. Every file it touches is backed up first, so you can always go back.

Once it's running, there's a lot more than a working game:

The Squadron Room. Join an RAF squadron or a Luftwaffe Gruppe in the summer of 1940 and fly a career. Press Play Campaign and the game opens straight onto the campaign map with your squadron, the date and your name already set. When you come back, your sorties are in your log book, your aircraft carries the letter you actually flew, and rank and awards follow from what you do.

Both sides. Fly the Spitfire or Hurricane, or the Bf 109 and the Bf 110 with your gunner in the back seat. Every German aircraft is painted from the game's own skins.

Your pilot's own story. Click his photograph for his record: where he was born and how he came to fly, by a real 1940 training route. Keep it, or write your own.

The morning paper. Each day brings a newspaper with what really happened the day before in 1940: the raids, the weather, the claims made that night and the losses counted after the war.

A better picture. No grid lines on the terrain, sharper distant ground, optional ReShade sharpening, and your joystick or HOTAS set up automatically.

What you need: a copy of Battle of Britain II and the 2.13 patch. The mod includes everything else.

Installing takes a couple of minutes. Unblock the zip (right click, Properties, tick Unblock), put the BOB2-Win11-Fix folder inside your Battle of Britain II folder next to Bob.exe, double click "_CLICK HERE TO START.bat" and follow the Setup Wizard.
