Apples and oranges WRT the SF2 and DCS maps. With the exception of Iceland, SF2 is mostly repeating tiles with basic terrain that is most directly comparable to Falcon 4.0. By contrast, DCS has more realized terrain/elevation and while it is technically repeating tiles it is done in such a way that you can still very accurately perform visual navigation (i.e. matching roads, city boundaries, etc).
If it was just a matter of slapping tiles together, DCS would have plenty of theaters. However, they chose to go with a new graphics engine and don't intend to release a SDK until EDGE is public. Compared with how the Iceland terrain engine was released, ED appears to be doing a great job of integration and optimization. Time will tell, but I would rather see an optimized engine that third parties can add to rather than an engine that was sub-optimally released and then abandoned due to a lack of revenue streams.

The average naval aviator, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy, and caring. These feelings just don't involve anyone else.
