You know what actually started the slow death of the sport? Dale Junior SUCKING. All you have to do is watch the ratings and attendance prior to Dale Junior SUCKING and after he started. The more he SUCKED the worse the ratings got. Also, the second part to the problem is Jimmy Johnson winning four championships in a row. The same thing happened when the Yankees won 4 out of 5 championships in the 90's. People stopped thinking their team had a shot. Anytime one team dominates, the sport suffers.
But unlike other sports, there was ONE team that brought in a majority of the fans after Dale Sr died... and that was Junior. What other sport has ONE TEAM that brings in a majority of the fans? Junior has to win. If he doesn't win, this sport is doomed. He is the Michael Jordan of the sport times 10... minus any of the talent. But still, he is the guy millions of NASCAR fans want to see win.
And that is the proof that NASCAR doesn't cheat to help a driver win. If they did, Junior would win every week. Or, once. Just ONCE in the past 2 years.
