WW II With Tom Hanks
Episode 4, Peal Harbor
Hitler was a moron.
President Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan on December 8th, 1941, the day after the Pearl Harbor attack.
But he never asked Congress to declare war on Germany.
3 days later on December 11th, 1941 Hitler declared war on the United States.
If Hitler never declared war on the United States, he would had won in Europe.
Operation Barbarossa, Nazi Germany invasion of the Soviet Union, was still at the beginning when the Russians were retreating on all front.
Hitler Army Group Center was 21 miles from Moscow.
Lend Lease to Russia has not began yet until the USA was fully in the war in 1942.
This is how much Stalin received from the USA through the Lend-Lease program from 1942-1945:
American Lend-Lease eventually transferred over $11 billion dollars of goods to Soviet Russia—roughly the equivalent of $250 billion today. Those shipments included 400,000 vehicles, 14,000 aircraft, 13,000 tanks, 8,000 tractors, 4.5 million tons of food, and 2.7 million tons of petroleum products, as well as millions of blankets, uniforms, and boots, and 107,000 tons of cotton
German U-Boats were sinking British convoy ships carrying oil, aluminum, iron, coal, food, medicine and American lend lease war materiel at the rate of 500-600 ships, over 3 million ton, in less than a -6 months period in 1940 and 1941: the First U-Boat Happy Time in 1940 and the Second U-Boat Happy Time in 1941.
Great Britain was only one step away from being strangled to death.
If Hitler didn't declare war on the USA, Roosevelt would had concentrate all American forces and resources against the Japanese in the Pacific.
America would not had needed to lend-lease to the Soviet Union because she was not at war with Germany, leaving Stalin to fight Hitler with just his own material, weapons and supply.
The U.S. Navy would not had operated in the Atlantic to escort British convoys from the United States to Britain.
Great Britain would had fallen.
The Soviet Union would had fallen.
Hitler would had free reign of Europe.
Stalin would had negotiated a peace with Hitler.
Churchill would had negotiated a peace with Hitler.
Without Great Britain and Soviet Union and those useless French, America would not had entered into an European war with Hitler by herself even after defeating Japan.
America would make peace with Hitler.
Also Hitler's alliance with Italy and Italy's ambition to conquer the Balkans, North Africa, Greece was also a catalyst for 1. the delay of the start of Operation Barbarossa and 2. tying up needed precious resources in men and war equipment elsewhere which became one of the many causes for the failure of Operation Barbarossa.
By the way, regarding those useless French in 1940, when the French Army which was the largest in the world with the best tanks in the world, were concentrated on the Belgian France border waiting for Hitler's armies to invade, but Hitler's army went through the unguarded Ardennes made up of narrow roads and trials in deep forest, an area where every one said tanks couldn't fit through much less drive on.
French Air Force reconnaissances aircraft actually spotted the German Army coming out of the Ardennes at Sedan.
Long lines of German tanks numbering over 800, 41,000 trucks/fuel tankers/armored personnel carriers, 1000 guns, over 100,000 infantry, all stuck there not moving due to the narrow roads from the Ardennes into France at Sedan.
The reconnaissance aircraft crew reported it to their commanders and the commanders wanted to send bombers to attack the Germans but the French generals said those are just diversionary forces, the Germans are coming into France on the northern part of Belgium France border.
France could had ended World War 2 that day.
