Apollo 13, great movie, watching it again, great actors and performances. Never get tired of watching it. Your drunk Jim" Lovell.
Apollo 13 and Rush are by far my favorite Ron Howard films.

We've been watching "The Mentalist". It's pretty good, nice mix of drama/humor.

I've been getting double posts a lot recently. I usually delete one. Leaving these as evidence. Might be something (my browser?) on my end

Doesn't happen every time but that coincidence was humorous.

Mine too. They are both great. I feel that Rush was overlooked by most. I have suggested it to a number of people who have never even heard ot it, and they have gotten back to me with how much they loved it after watching it. Daniel Brühl was robbed of an Oscar that year, his performance as Niki Lauda was spot on! And the music by Hans Zimmer is fantastic, as always.
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!
The Shining is exactly the kind of horror that I like. Even when I was younger I never liked the teenage slasher type of horror.

Who is looking forward to the new HBO "Harry Potter" series? The new Severus Snape has been revealed....

I didn’t even care about any of the Harry Potter movies. I didn’t watch a single one.

They're a bit silly at times but really good entertainment.

Finished Sherlock Holmes (by Arthur Conan Doyle) starring Jeremy Brett for the second time (41 Episodes). It was set in the 1880s and 1890s. Brett died within a year after the last episode. He was roughly 62.
Probably the best of the many many many famous detective episodes I've watched.
4 or 5 episodes did not meet expectations. So, I read about Brett and Holmes.
Brett was very ill during most of the many years of filming -- along the way, his wife died. He was virtually too ill to do the last two and he had to pause filming a few years along the way to solve health issues. Reading about his health, the inconsistency of a few episodes was understandable. One must be impressed by how well the substantial majority of episodes "came off".
He took playing Holmes to the limit of study and practice. He tried hard (some would say "succeeded") to become the Holmes that Doyle had envisioned -- doing Holmes the Doyle way became "his life". Eventually, he would dream he was Holmes. He did not want to stop filming even though he was literally dying (and knew it).
I suppose many of you on this site knew all that. But, for first time watchers, it matters when watching to know it.
Quote
This [version of Holmes] is often said to be the quintessential version of his era, likely due to the extensive research Brett conducted into the great detective, which he gathered together into his 77-page "Baker Street File" on everything from Holmes' mannerisms to his eating and drinking habits.
Holmes was characterized for his eccentric behavior, such as making rather eccentric hand gestures, bouts of short violent laughter, and his habit of hurling himself to the ground just to look for a footprint and clues.
Watching the above Sherlock Holmes series got me interested.
I am now watching "Young Sherlock" Season 1. Its an all-new series. All 8 episodes released on March 3, 2026. Its set in 1871. It was not "penned" by Doyle.
On the very first episode we meet Sherlock, his brother Mycroft, his Mother, and (Sherlock's friend at the beginning) Moriarty.

For those who care, I don't, Avatar 3 drops Tuesday on Digital release.
Those who care probably already knew this and don't use SimHQ as their primary source for newly released movies.
