Tablet and smartphone games stink IMO. I have yet to play one that will hold my interest. Kingdom Rush is fun.

The aging of the consoles is hurting them as well. Let's face it, they can't make games on the 360 and PS3 look any better than now and still run well. This is the longest gap between console releases this century and it's obvious that while MS and Sony were looking to maximize what they can get from this generation, the gamers are drifting away. The last CoD and MoH games don't look much better than the ones that preceded them. Forza Horizons doesn't blow away Forza 4. Console gamers want flashy graphics for their big screens. Don't give it to them, they lose interest.
You can bet EA and Activision are pressuring MS and Sony to get their new ones on the market ASAP.
And despite these other markets, the console market is still the largest and makes the lionshare of non-MMO profits.
As for developers not using EA, don't forget how many of EA's games come from devs EA bought. They have relatively few 3rd parties making games for them. I remember 2012 games I think it was that made MOH:AA? Big hit! EA promptly canned them and brought MOH development in house (leading to megablockbusters like Pacific Assault), so the employees formed Infinity Ward...which got bought by Activision after having a big hit with CoD and then later imploding when Activision treated them like all the rest of their workers.

Shook my head when I read that they believed the failure of the lastest Medal of Honor showed there was no market for "realistic" shooters. Medal of Honor failed because it stank as a game. It was the most scripted thing i've ever played. It gave the player virtually no freedom to do anything other than walk down a set corridor and shot what popped up in front. For the most part you had to sit back and watch cutscenes. It was unfortunate, because they clearly put a lot of work into getting the gear and story right.

I think that all depends on the industry but the market is in a state of flux.. As certain types of games get better on tablets and if game controller manufactures make software to run their controllers on tablets .. I could see it changing some things. Some gamers will always want the bigger screen.. the peripheral options that only a PC can provide .. others will be happy with what a console can deliver while others will be satisfied with what they can get on a tablet. Especially if it can be had for less.
Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

So how do you explain the success of the COD series? MOH quite obviously tried to copy that success but failed.

As I've said before, the biggest problem with both movie studios and game publishers is what I call "willful blindness." When a game or film fails, more often than not they will blame the genre failing to interest enough customers over their product being crap.
No one saw this SF film on a space station? People must not want space station-based SF then! Doesn't matter that it was directed by a brain-dead one-eyed frog on life support, written by a rabid dog, and starred Lindsay Lohan...the public doesn't want a film about space stations. Forget that JMS film about people on a space station fighting a war with ancient aliens with good actors, a modest budget, we just saw the public doesn't want that!!
So MOH failed to deliver on everything it promised to, but EA says "no one wants realistic shooters" because to think "people want GOOD realistic shooters and MOH was not good" would be pointing the fingers at themselves, and they don't think that way. Whether it's because they're actually that blind/stupid or they willfully ignore what's in front of their faces because it would endanger their own jobs, I can't say.

When you go to origin and try to find your own language and all you can get is this reply: "Er zijn geen resultaten gevonden voor: ENGLISH Probeer een ander trefwoord om mee te zoeken." then I will not be buying anything from them, heh because it looks at your IP and makes an assumption which you cannot rectify then they have lost my business

You might need to search for "Engels".

hehe yes but it still will not let me order anything and pay for it with a UK card as the countries do not match, I had the same problem with Steam but at least they helped me and gave me a solution which I can use when I am in Belgium.
