The lost it "two weeks" ago, heh.

They are calling the next patch an "RC" {a release candidate]. They seem to have a handle on the CTD/Stability/Performance issues, maybe, just maybe they are in the process of adding some gameplay fixes. The guys working on those issues must have made some progress while the performance issues were being addressed. Wishful thinking I know but they usually add some fixes like FM tweaks, but the AI issues are critical to calling anything an RC.

I have read the (quite bizarre) communication thread by B6 which is now locked.

Without resorting to making it up as you go along dependant on your preference its all but impossible to make any sense of that thread beyond the fact that some kind of patch which could be a release candidate will be released, some-when, maybe. Really, Mystic Meg couldn't make a half accurate prediction on this.

I haven't played it since the patch that introduced the 'interesting' FM revisions and have no interest in playing it. I find it very hard to believe that it would be possible to transform what is CoD into something dramatically better just by moving it into another theatre of war, and the growing list of fixes that are apparently migrating to the new title seems to ask that you believe just that.

I would flog it but understand its now worth under three quid, you really can't buy a pint for that !

Your right, just adding a theater won't make the sim any better. Thats why a good portion of the crew has to be concentrating on the game engine, while the rest are concentrating on the Sequel. Not sure why people don't understand the hesitance of the developer stating the future of the development, when the developers aren't sure they have a working game engine. We all know its not working yet, and has never worked properly, even the developer must have grave reservations at this point, and would be guessing on the outcome. The RC patch and readme should be very revealing, if we ever see it.

How do you know this? How do you how many of the crew are allotted to CoD. For all we know there is likely a few guys as a skeleton crew working on CoD, which is why they are soooo slow at doing anything. But if you have proof otherwise, please share. I hope it is so.

Its so obvious is painful. I said they were working on the game engine without which, COD, and any other Sequel after COD will fail. We've gone over this so many times its painful, for you, me and everyone else.

Sorry, I am just trying to find out how you "know" these things in your definitive statements. Actually you said they have a good portion of the crew working on the game engine, a statement you do not know for a fact. Thanks for clarifying that you are only guessing like the rest of us.

I didn't think it had to be explained that we are all guessing, its just my guess makes way more sense than your guess. wink

So your of the belief the development is just working on a new Theater map, aircraft, and campaigns.
OK...I'll try to make it easier to understand my point.
The following is an example of just one feature of the game engine.

The development has to try and fix the AI and Commands for the Sequel's release if they are going to have any chance for decent sales. So I'm quite sure they are working on that feature, whether or not it will be fixed before the release of the Sequel is anyones guess. It would be unbelievable and would make no sense whatsoever to think they aren't currently working on the AI.

Any work they are doing on the AI, will apply to COD aswell as every Sequel from now to the end of the series. This would apply to almost every feature of the game engine, like FM, DM, Clouds/Weather/Water etc. To suggest that they are only working on the Sequels make absolutely no sense. When the development says its no longer working on COD means they are no longer working on COD maps, aircraft, missions, campaigns, etc that are COD specific. That said you could use some German aircraft, like later versions of the 109 being built for the Sequel on the COD map.

I promise this is the last time I will bore people with the explanation.

Do I have to explain how speculation on the forums works as well. wink
Their stated business model is a fact, and the development said they were using the same business model for the new series for quite sometime. Recently there has been some doubt as to whether or not they were changing the business model, when an MMO was brought up, as well as the ongoing problems with the game engine, but we'll would have to wait for the announcement for further details. That said, the mention of an MMO doesn't necessarily mean the business model has changed. The development has stated they hoped their new game engine could be used in a range of projects, so adding an MMO doesn't necessarily mean the death of the series. It appears the Sequel will continue the series, but it is possible the Eastern Theater could be an MMO, but I doubt the development would drop the series revenue stream.

The problem is that if the engine was not ready to support a new model then you will have a train-wreck like we witness today. There is no worse fate for a software development than changing course.

In case you haven't seen it elsewhere, B6 just confirmed...see

...again nothing about the patch. They are obsessed with their sequel.

So the patch when it comes will be the last one for CLoD, as they are fully committed after that on the sequel.. Mmmm!
Scrolling down to BS's remarks on the earlier post is even more gloomy news.. I'm feeling sad now. frown

Thats exactly what I have been saying for quite sometime, but you've chosen to ignore it, to suit your latest argument. The new game engine was being built to expand that business model. Just because MMO's have been mentioned doesn't necessarily mean that they have dropped the series model. The fact that BlackSix is still calling one of their projects a Sequel suggests the series business model is still intact. Again there is nothing to stop them from doing an MMO project with the same game engine at the same time to increase revenues in the future. We will have to wait for the Announcement to see what direction the development is heading.

I wouldn't be so sad yet, there will be plenty of time for that after the announcement. wink For the Sequel to have any chance of success they will have to fix the same issues COD has. If they fix those issues for the Sequel, I see absolutely no reason for them not to provide a patch for COD, or include the COD map with the Sequel, like they did with the original series. Infact they are saying that the alpha for the Sequel won't be done until 2013, and you'd think they would want to test some of those fixes, with test patches for COD. That said, I agree its very hard to say what direction the development will go, but its never a good idea to jump to upsetting conclusions until the facts are known.

Pulled this from the BOBgamehub link.

"Is there a plan to implement Anti Aliasing or any of the newer full scene anti aliasing (FXAA, MLAA, TSAA etc)?? Timeframe for release? Before sequel or after? Yes, we are planning to make normal AA in the future. The main task now is fixing and debugging new game engine."

So are they telling us they have a new game engine for the sequel or are they talking about the CLOD engine? Was the most recent beta using this new game engine?

No I did not ignore it. In fact I agreed with your opinion. My point was only that you state these opinions as proven fact when you are only guessing like the rest of us. You continue to ignore that fact.

This last comment is much better as it includes words like "suggests" and "doesn't necessarily." I agree that your opinion is likely, but you do not know it to be a proven fact unless you work for 1C.

No where in any of my previous posts have I stated anything is a proven fact, or have I suggested I work for IC. You've just run out of valid arguments, and have to resort to ridicules statements.

That said, the developers business model has stayed the same for the last ten years, and they have continually suggested for the last few years that they wanted to expand that business model. BlackSix just posted this at the IC forums. Pay attention to this sentence. "We plan to extend game after release and add new theaters." Which suggests they are keeping that part of the business model alive.

Yes, thanks. For example, if we make in sequel Moscow 41, Kerch 42, Kharkov 42 or Stalingrad 42 then you won't see FW-190. If we make in sequel Leningrad 42 (late) or Rhev 42 (late) then you will see its. We plan to extend game after release and add new theatres.

They have to be talking about the COD game engine. The COD game engine is going thru a major "graphic engine" rewrite to improve performance. The latest beta patch includes this graphic rewrite. They are talking about releasing this beta patch as the offical "Release Candidate" soon and we will probably see an annoucement of their future plans around the same time. It would be impossible for them to build a new game engine for the Sequel in a year or two. If they were building a new game engine for the Sequel, they certainly wouldn't be bothered wasting time and effort rewriting the graphic engine of COD.

Oh brother deadhorse

I said you would not know these things for sure unless you worked there. I did not say you said you worked there. Read my posts better in the future. Repost all the quotes you want. You do not know for sure. You are guessing.

You obviously didn't read this quote from the developers communicator BlackSix. "We plan to extend game after release and add new theatres".

I have news for you everyone here is guessing, some making more educated guesses than others. Your guesses appear to be based mostly on hysteria, misunderstanding, and miss-direction when your argument isn't going well.

I vote we get Chivas and Icarus a subforum of their own where they won't get their threads locked (I have counted several on two forums so far guys), throw in a bottle of virtual vodka, and leave them to it!
