Excellent choices there, piper. Being a huge Dylan fan, I am by default a big fan of the Band too. And the Decemberists are big in my city, everybody I know seems to really love their material. They played this spring at our fabulous Iroquois Amphitheater, it was quite a night with Justin Townes Earle opening the show. One thing I really appreciate about the Decemberists (besides the music of course), is their tradition of having a unique poster bill for each show. Usually the posters are made by local artists. I've got a little collection of them. Here's the one from the Louisville show in April.
It was 1990, give or take, I don't remember
When the news of revolution hit the air
The girls hadn't even started taking down our posters
When the boys started cutting off their hair
The radio stations all decided angst was finally old enough
It ought to have a proper home
Dead, fat, or rich, nobodys left to #%&*$#
About the goings on in self destructive zones
