50% is good. CustomPC reviewed it with a score of 35% and PC Pilot put off reviewing it hoping patches will fix the problems before they decide in the next issue.

50% probably a little generous, but I would say that it was played with later patches than the other reviews to gain that mark.
What WW2 Fighter pilots say about Angels and Airspeed:
"Nice job of getting down to the basics - love your choice of a cover!" Col. Clarence 'Bud' Anderson
"I have enjoyed reading angels and airspeed, it should prove good reading for all interested in combat tactics and their application related to the fluid air environment and state of technology in WWII years. All the best as you make it available." - Col. Charles McGee - Tuskegee Airman
NEVER ENGAGE STUPID.

Strikes me as a fair overall evaluation. He nailed it when he said he could not recommend COD to a casual gamer, but only to experienced flight sim enthusiasts familiar to the IL2 series. He didn't dwell on the broken bits (Comms comes to mind), but understandably describes COD as "boring" due to its many deficiencies like the weak Campaign. I enjoy COD immensely for what he described it, but I think he was generous to give it a 5/10.

Meget rimelig anmeldelse. Ja nesten som ventet. Det har vel ikke vrt en god anmeldelse av spillet enn.

I'm enjoying COD for what it currently is, and have my fingers crossed that it develops over time into a true successor to the IL2 series. I enjoy building missions with online coop in mind, and probably the most frustrating problem with COD for me is that coop not fully "there" yet.... hopefully future patches will correct the current problems. Best wishes.

Rating is fair if you think of this game in terms of interest for the global public but if you think of the game like a flight simulation it is not! I am a flight simulation enthusiast and I feel this game like a great step forward in the right direction with the hardware we have for the moment.

I don't think the rating matters, 40% 50% 60%.... whatever.
It is a good and thoughtful review though. I agree with pretty much all of it although his praise for the current CloD as a technical sim doesn't ring true here, I wonder how much time he actually spent with it. He's correct, you can't recommend CloD to casual gamers which is a major problem, although I'd have difficulty recommending the DCS series and current ROF build either.

Boring. Hm... I think the reviewer just doesn't understand what's the fun in such kind of simulation games. The fun there is a feeling of a real aircraft with a real physique , the feeling of an engine and a challenge of landing half-broken aircraft when you feel its every gear touch down, one by one. I couldn't care less of whether the game came with campaigns or not. If I need a campaign a would create my own one. It would be pure waste of money for developers. I'd rather want them to make a few other planes. Agree with most other parts of the review. At least the reviewer does not pronounce all the "garish greens" rubbish like Gamespot did.

Apart from the small fact that the 'garish greens' description is entirely accurate, and justified.
(Especially when viewed on a pro print-house proofing Eizo monitor calibrated to the Nth degree)

Ben That is a very common misunderstanding. Your Eizo monitor is a wide gamut monitor. Calibrated or not it shows a huge difference in color saturation over standard color space (sRGB). Colors are shown accurate on such a monitor only inside so-called "color aware" applications like Photoshop which have so-called "color engine". That engine compares an image color profile with your monitor color profile and then render colors to be shown right on your wide gamut monitor. In a word, desaturates them if your picture has sRGB profile. A game has no "color engine" and is not a color aware application. It renders colors as they are, if it would be displayed on sRGB monitor. Your Eizo monitor is pretty much useless, whatever they advertised, for anything except pre-press work because industrial printing equipment works with non-standard color space. In games, movies, Internet explorer and other color non-aware applications Eizo show strongly oversaturated colors. Greens - most of all. Try to google "wide gamut" vs sRGB and you would learn how much hated wide gamut monitors are among artists who don't work for anything to be printed.

I don't find COD boring at all, just as you don't. The reviewer figures his audience expects a sim with everything done out for them ie. Campaign. For me, a good Campaign would be icing on the cake. A mighty fine cake.

Soaringbird said: That is a very common misunderstanding. A good job I didn't misunderstand, then. I assume you're trying to create an immediate impression? Your Eizo monitor is a wide gamut monitor. It isn't mine. It belongs to a friend. I have what you might call decent 'normal' monitors. But I happen to know what you mean. You are mostly right about this. Without sounding arrogant, I'm already aware of the points you raise. Perhaps at this stage I should point out I worked professionally with editing, printing and colour-proofing tools, using all the usual applications, and some not-so-usual. I could bang on all day about RGB, chromakey, CMYK, lumens calcs, pantones, greyscales, you-name-it. I worked variously as a technical author, and also produced suites of (colour and B+W) manuals, advertising, websites, brochures, on-screen manuals, help guides/wizards etc. Colour stuff on computers, basically. Also, 3d renderers, texture mappers, 3d modelling etc A game has no "color engine" and is not a color aware application.
Some do, some dont, but that's beside the point. The 'garish greens' (ok, so people find the phrase annoying) are apparenet on a huge cross-section of monitors orf all ilks, hence th ehuge cross-section of grumbly mosts on the matter. The palette, and relative points within it, for that rendering...are a bit grim. Add in not-exactly-synpatehtic ground objects and you have a problem. Which is why some people have a problem. Try to google "wide gamut" vs sRGB and you would learn how much hated wide gamut monitors are among artists who don't work for anything to be printed. I might well do if I wasn't already aware of those principles. But that still doesn't answer the point. The midday landscape rendering, whatever the semantics, is grim. Sunglasses help Ben

Hehe, that is a classic Fearless.... Wernervoss did something similar a while back. There is definitely some schizophrenia going on.
