Oops, sorry, I forgot to put HOLY FREAKIN' in front of that. Tch.

To start with the "holy!"

1920x1200
Model Detail: High
Building Detail: Very Low
Land Detail: Medium
Forest: Low
Visual Effects: High
Texture Quality: Original
FSAA: x8
SSAO: Off
Damage DEcals: High
Buildings Amount: Unlimited
Land Shading: Med
Grass: Off
Shadows: On
Roads: On

GPU:
Temp: Max and steady at 73-degrees
Memory Useage: around 1100MB
GPU Useage: 99%
FPS: Lowest and general average around 50, highest looking at sky 132 and still climbing when I had to look down again.

-------------------------------------------

2560x1600, same settings as above:

Temp: 73-degrees
Memory Useage: Around the same, peaked once at 1400MB
GPU Useage: 99%
FPS: Around 40 average but plenty higher for lengths of time, rarely lower.

-------------------------------------------

Now the "freakin'"

2560x1600, everything maxed out except SSAO off:

Temp: 73-degrees
Memory Useage: Around the same
GPU Useage: 99%
FPS....lowest, on the deck looking directly into a big town, screen filled with buildings, 22fps, avg 25fps, anywhere else not lower than 30fps and often into 40fps.

At the first settings detailed above (1920x1200, mixture of med to low with a couple of high) no stutters worth mentioning at all. At the highest settings detailed above, the ones really taking the piss, consistent saccading that was totally playable even at 22fps. Inability to vsync added very subtle and fast tearing that did not spoil the visual experience (and I'm damned fussy).

All tests were a mixture of high-alt (2000m lone Hurri over Kent single mission), going down onto the deck and cruising over hill and dale, towns and coast-line. Then 6 vs 6 (Hurri vs He111) over sea.

Yes, I have a beast of a system, but scaling the experience at the first settings detailed above (pretty solid minimum of 50fps) I'd say this is now playable on a GTX285 if at slightly lower resolution, or maybe not required (the lower rez) considering how smooth it was at 22fps.

Odd thing was mem useage, which I expected to see climb way higher at max resolution of 2560x1600, especially when I cranked everything to the max.

I did not expect any of this. 1C have delivered multicore success, and two weeks ahead of schedule at least. The rest of the issues are standard fare for a sim (bugs and whatnot). The brokeness has been fixed, stutters, jerks and pauses are gone.

All that's left for me to do now is eat that crow while I grovel on my knees. CoD has been delivered from purgatory, against all my expectations. I was WRONG. Twat. Holy freakin' crap indeed. It flys. It soars. It rocks. Hammering that Hurri over everything I could throw at it was sublime. Good job 1C, and congratulations on finally cracking it.

Ok, 10 Hail Mary's and 5 Our Fathers and we'll call it even... wink

It is nice to see the progress, and they are obviously working hard. By the end of May the mainstay of the US market will think us mad for complaining, especially if they crack on with a SLI fix too.

this is now playable on a GTX285

Confirmed: GTX285 OC to 690mhz, with Q9650 @3600mhz. 1920x1200 with no stutters biggrin I'm using the "Medium" textures setting. Everything looks beautiful with the Land Shading on high.

Careful VW I did warn you about being a fanboi and it sounds like you've turned to the dark side. biggrin

Anyways, it's nice to hear how CoD will run for the majority of us in about a years time.
All we need now is 100+ bombers inbound up the Thames to London racked up to maximum eye candy, some decent 'tally ho' radio chat, an immersive campaign with realistic missions along the same timeline as the real BoB and we'll be sorted for a few years....

Coming from such a bitter introvert hater smile that one can only have 100% trust in, I'd say it's time to buy this product now.

It's where RoF is at right now, gorgeous bird but needs somewhere decent to dance. RoF's about to get a DC, CoD should have 128-player MP on persistent-world servers. Once that's working properly she'll be a goer, only needing all the bugs and whatnot sorted out.

Then we'll get into more familiar territory, NACA-charts and #6 plug isn't modelled properly etc. biggrin

Beg to differ slightly. While it's great to see that they now have playable performance, with your brand new top line card, you should be running mostly high details at 60 vsync FPS at 19x12.

Compare it to example for RoF, what insane frame rates would you be getting there at max detail?

In RoF, totally maxed out except HDR/bloom, the lowest I get is 31fps, but almost always around 50fps, dipping to 45, hitting vsync-max of 60 very often.

RoF is smoother but there is obviously less detail on the deck. CoD out to sea is 75 and higher most of the time.

I'm going to be spending a fair bit of time experimenting now, trying multiple a/c over land at various altitudes and doing combat (if I can catch anything). I'll be doing 15 vs 15 on the deck, same as in RoF, and comparing fps etc.

RoF has far less things to model than CoD....

Much, much better for me too - on an i7920 @ 3.8 GHz, GTX285 Win-7 64 PC. It's gone frpm an interesting collection of 3D models to a game I can actually play.

I can now remove the pins from my Ilya voodoo doll and sew the head back onto the Maddox one.

Very much happier myself, its a good patch. yep Few screenies, taken 'in flight' and not from tracks. Fraps FPS in corner.

Settings:

Sightseeing:

Exponential improvement, though as a 'reality dose', one aircraft. Need time for further tinkering, might be able to make it even better. I still fear the days of a playable true BOB 'big London raid' are 'a ways away' though, coming back down to Earth slightly.

Very pleasing progress, nonetheless. So far, so good. Smile2
