Simply awesome.

I'm buying multiple copies if it works out as you envision.

Did you guys ever think of having a persistent server with on-line fees? Heck, I'd join. Screw EVE and WoW...

Hello hello ... over 10k views for an interview about a very early pre-alpha. Looks like there is a lot of interest in this project.

I know that there is an Area51 update out there so for the rest of us who dont have access, is it possible to post a single screenshot or something to answer this much enthusiasm? Perhaps I am asking for too much so thanks for making FO anyway.

Sorry for the late reply... an extremely diverse week for me. I will try to post something later this week.

Here is a little preview shot as promised. This screenshot shows the current state of our terrain renderer. It has come a long way since the terrain in our previous build (as seen in the SimHQ interview) and yet still has a few imperfections since it is a work in progress. It is taken from our dedicated terrain creation tool which uses actual graphics engine code to preview the terrain under development. This screenshot gives you an indication of what our generic terrain will look like.

Looks promising rjester. Is this some "randomized" terrain or some real part of the world?

I wish you guys success with your product smile

Hi Groove,

This a 60 by 60 mile patch from the US. So neither the elevation nor the textures will be "randomized" for "generic" terrain. Both aspects (elevation and texture) are based on real-life data. For focus areas however, terrain elevation and textures will receive additional attention to make sure that virtual terrain agrees with the real world.

Thanks for the Info rjester. I was just curious if this posted terrain pic is randomized as your terrain engine is in development. I assumed your final product will have real terrain data.

Cheers.

Actually that was a very good question Groove, considering the current state of the ongoing terrain development.
