As I've gotten older I've gravitated more and more away from first person shooters and more towards RPG's. It's not so much about the slow-paced gameplay but about playing something that has a compelling story and characters. I'm currently playing "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" and it is easily one of the top 5 greatest RPG's I've ever played. My other four would be,
Knights of the Old Republic Mass Effect Mass Effect 2 Skyrim

RPG-7, RPG-27, RPG-29, RPG-30, and RPG-32. But, hey, as long as they go boom, it's all good!

Secret of Mana on SNES.
Final Fantasy 3 on NES, FF 6/4 SNES, FF7 PS1
Syndicate SNES.
That's how long it's been since I've played an RPG.

That's a tough one. I'll give it a shot though. And these are based on what I felt at the time, not based on retrospect or judged against current titles. In no particular order.
Deus Ex Gothic 2 Witcher 3 Fallout 3 Morrowind
There are another dozen I could have put in that list easy. And that doesn't even include CRPGs.

Why men throw their lives away attacking an armed Witcher... I'll never know. Something wrong with my face?

Not really played too many, but I've played and enjoyed these the most:
KOTOR ME2 Skyrim Fallout New Vegas Deus Ex and DE:HR
I'm currently playing Oblivion (only just started, so can't say much about it) and the South Park RPG which is actually surprisingly good as well as hilarious. I'll get Fallout 4 when it goes on sale, no rush.
Honorable mentions: KOTOR 2 ME 1 and 3 Fallout 3 STALKERs kinda
The Jedi Master

For cRPGs I'd have to say:
Baldurs Gate 1, 2 Icewind Dale 1 (w/ HoW expansion) Skyrim Silent Hunter III WoFF 1
for RPGs (tabletop) I'd have to say AD&D (1st and 2ed), Bushido, Chivalry and Sorcery, WHFRP, Boothill
Currently simming; GHPC, Tank Squad, Panzer Elite, and one train sim: Run 8. Trying to escape Tarkov, and roaming around in Incursion' Red River.
Also, Strat-O-Matic basketball season replay 2024 NBA season (Go Raptors! table-top version...with real dice) Gimme da rock!

KOTOR and Mass Effect. KOTOR I still would rank as one of the best games of all time.
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Yep. Old school. Those old SSI D&D games? I remember playing them on my old (well back then it was new) 386 black and white laptop with a 10 inch screen. There was one that was part of a series with Eye of the Beholder being one of them and Pool of Radiance being the other. Can't no longer remember the titles of the rest. And also IMO, FF VII on Sony Playstation 1 and the Lunar series on the Sega were the best RPG I ever played.

Dragon Age: Origins by far. Simply great. Its expansion, Awakenings, was also very good. DA2 was such a terrible let-down, it was as if someone had deliberately decided to make it worse in every single aspect.
Mass Effect 1. Again, ME2 felt like someone was looking deliberately for ways to make it worse ("let's remove weapon/armor mods and bring in loading screens!") and ME3 was where that same person finally got his way.
Undercarriage lever a bit sticky was it, Sir?

Eye of the Beholder and Pool of Radiance had their own series, and Pool of Radiance was part of the Gold Box games. You're probably thinking of the Curse of the Azure Bonds or the Secret of the Silver Blades, sequels to the Pool of Radiance.
