I think I'd rather have waited a bit longer TBH. And have the dev go belly up like Maddox did? We don't need that debacle repeated. The world waited 8 years to see a sim like this sucessfully created. That's long enough.

The world waited? for a sim like BOS? given what we have now 1CGS going belly up would barely register on the world consciousness.

Was there another WWII flight sim launched sucessfully between 2006 and 2014 that I'm not aware of?

'the world waited'?....no The world. The customer. The fan base. The people who want a WWII flight sim that's superior to an iPhone game. Yes. There was a need in this genre for a new product after an 8 year drought.

The market didn't need to wait for a game like BOS, it already had War Thunder.

I don't see DCS as the future for ww2 air combat. The spotting is abysmal, try and get a straight answer on their forums about the spotting in DCS2 and it's like going up against a brick wall. I'll agree with sharp on the development times for dcs modules it takes far too long for anything to be released and when it is, it's still a beta. No 3rd party has finished a module, they are STILL all beta. Back to BOS, The game is flawed everybody agrees on that, everybody but the developers and that is it's biggest flaw.
DCS Kickstarter Wags July 2014 "In this July 2014 update, the primary news is in regards to the restructured backer rewards. After a careful review of the older system under RRG, we found it financially unattainable." Wags October 2017 "the investment vs. generated revenue has been excellent for the World War II aircraft. In fact, the P-51D Mustang has twice the cost effectiveness of the A-10C Warthog."

I do think one of the best features of the DN engine is how well it handles this. Hopefully EDGE gives DCS an improvement in this regard.

ROTFLMAO, Oh no you didn't... The world waited 8 years to see a sim like BOS developed? I am sorry but that one is a hoot! Based on the combined forum activity ( or should I say lack of), where did the world go? I somehow don't think the " world" is quite jumping onto the " powerups" theme.

Honestly War Thunder, in full sim mode, isn't far off bos. Of course this is only for aircraft that have finished fms, and many aircraft have a generic place holder fm.
So that is one successful flight sim in the 2006-14 time frame.
And before you start pointing out flaws in wt, keep in mind that it doesn't have the same problems with ground objects and AI as bos.
If you want to make a ww2 combat flight sim, then it is pretty important to model the ground war, especially on the eastern front.

Well, when a developer is creating a game called "The Battle of Moscow"...but choose not to model Moscow...we shouldn't expect much.
