Tonester, I would suggest if you have a problem with the ATAG Server you should do us the courtesy of complaining about it over at the ATAG Forum.

The admins at ATAG who design the missions and run the servers don't visit many forums, but they do try to monitor and respond to any server issues and concerns at, naturally enough, the little ATAG forum. I don't know all the technicals, but they've certainly run into their fair share of challenges over the months. In terms of player satisfaction, it's a "darned if you do, darned if you don't" situation. With ongoing glitches that continually arise even now (some of them Steam-related), plus the fact that Cliffs of Dover is (hopefully) about to be updated/changed/optimized at some point in the near/distant/unforeseeable future, the ATAG admins don't plan to make any significant changes to Server #1 any time soon.

The ATAG server is there for everyone to use, and every member here at SimHQ is warmly invited. There is no charge, no password, and we have a Teamspeak server set up likewise with no charge nor password. Squads are welcome and our TS admin, ATAG_Striker, is willing to set upU separare channel(s) for any squad that could benefit from it. No one at ATAG profits monetarily from this, the best way to say thanks is to simply fly on the server, interact on Teamspeak, and invite your friends and squadmates to join you. This gives us more players for a more fulfilling experience -- it IS a big map after all. If we fill Server #1 to capacity, we start another another server to handle the overflow. Hopefully this will induce more new players to purchase CoD, especially with the current offline feature issues.

We DO want to hear of concerns, problems, glitches, etc., but the ATAG Forum is the preferred place to work through specifics. We've recently had a spate of "Authentification Errors" preventing several regular players from logging in. Turns out it's actually a Steam glitch where Steam mistakenly thinks the player is already logged into another server. With the help of other forum members we have a quick procedure with Steam files on the player's PC to correct the situation --which seems to work.

So, far from remaining silent, we WANT to hear your concerns. As the old saying goes: "If you're happy with our service, tell your friends. If you aren't happy with our service, tell US!"

Well, I'll tell you, too! I've been enjoying the heck out of myself on your server of late and now more of my squaddies are, too! (The AKA guys you may have seen on your server) It's a really great thing all of you at ATAG have provided for the rest of us to enjoy. I'll be holding off on any suggestions until the next patch arrives to see more of what we're working with at that time. In the interim, I'll just satisfy myself with flying on your server when time permits. Thanks again! S!

I just wanted to say that in the little time i have to fly these days, i spend it all on your server. I've haven't played much single player at all. So Thanks for all your efforts in keeping the server up and running as well as possible. Right now, i still don't even know what and where all the targets are. But hey, I'm still having a lot of fun getting shot down. I need to get on teamspeak. I think that will help a lot.

Anyway. i think when the game matures a bit more, and we get everything more the way we all expected it to be (I'm guessing that's gonna be about the time the expansion comes), I think we'll have some epic battles there. I can't wait. Now if I could work less so i have more time to enjoy it, I'd be much more happy.

I've actually assigned a handy joystick button for the Teamspeak "Push to talk" hotkey. I use it a lot to bleat "Help! 109 on my tail on the deck at Dover!!!!". LOL So much easier than trying to type all that in a chat window woth tracers whistling by!

We're a friendly bunch and welcome all newcomers onto Teamspeak. We even set up a dedicated TS channel for "cockpit instruction" recently. This allows for great one-on-on walk-throughs of basic startup instructions in a Spit or running through the finer points of mastering a Blenheim bomber, where you can talk back-and-forth to your heart's content without concern of interruption or bothering anyone else.
