May I ask why the Spitfire MkIIa has a prop pitch indicator and functions is it not a constant speed prop?

No, it is a two stage (coarse/fine) pitch prop.
AFAIK the latter variants had a fixed pitch prop. There is a real good video from A2A about it (thanks to Frankyboy):

hm, I am surprised to learn that the Mk II Spits had a constant speed propeller - but I am no expert. This is from a MK II manual, really ?

EDIT: I googled it. In 1940 the first three blade constant speed props were substituted.
