Guys, it is a beta patch, just don't download it if you don't want to deal with the possible issues that are implied by it being a beta.

Yup, it is a patch for the beta release.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

It's not like the IL2 QMB, it's still under Single Player / Quick Missions, but they've given us an interim screen to change aircraft details and loadout. I think there's a way to fiddle with the Flight Plan but don't think that's working (or rather I've tried most incantations of chickens blood and pixie dust but no luck yet)

No it's just some scenarios which match the old IL2 QMB options (attack a convoy/bridge/airfield). Scroll right down the list of quick missions and you'll see them.

regarding the performance, i'd hoped the full screen mode would have fixed the staggering discrepancies between the users, but ... no, there still something very wrong in this code

Tried the Blenny on the airfield one, and it was going well until I found out the loadout is no bombs. Reduced efficiency of the raid, that one.

Next one up was 'Road Convoy' in a Spitfire, and got my first ever single player Launcher.exe crash.

It's more beta than the last beta patch.

I'll see if these are reported on the banana forum already and if not report them...

I tried one of the new QMB scenarios and as I spawned in the air my plane blew up. The subsequent mission summary screen showed every friendly a/c as a destroyed.

I think everything may have spawned in the same spot. Oops.

Guys! Its not all doom and gloom!

I've found the stutters are much better again, especially over land, and its buttery smooth over water - game seems even smoother - I shot down two JU88's! woohoo!

All up i like the new patch, couple of bugs to iron out as you'd expect - the game keeps jumping back to desktop for me when i hit "fly" - just for a second or two, then works fine - weird though. The extra player loadout screen added to the QMB is great, much more intuitive - doesnt seem to work though - the settings you select dont stick - still though surely thats an easy fix for the devs.

All in all i say please do keep posting bugs over on the 1c forum - the devs really seem to be listening. Sure this game is bugged but its so refreshing to have devs releasing nice big patches every week - lets all get over the "beta" stage moaning and keep helping the devs to make this an awesome game! After every patch i can see the real potential of this game unfolding!

me:

i5 2500 sandybridge
ATI 4870
Settings low to medium, no AA, Trees off (makes a massive difference for me to the stutters)

I think it just sounds gloomy but most feedback isn't really, most of us are just sharing what we are seeing, i.e. we all know it's beta but want to let people know that we see things too. It helps gauge whether to use the patch or not.

Fearlessfrog, you had a question about the "slide" in QMB.
Unlike the original IL2 QMB, you can make your OWN templates in FMB and place them in QMB. There are options to attach small Icon like (256x180)jpg and bigger 800x600 jpg Slides to the title of the mission/template as well as to the main briefing. There is provision to have subbriefings to be attached for every flight in the template along with jpg slides. I am assuming this is more for OnLine missions where more human are involved. Also you can attach sound waves to each of those briefing or subriefings to play as background or on timer or something.
At the moment it seems only a few of those features are activated and I have not gotten an answer as to what format the wave files have to be compressed. The old IL2 compression is either invalid or the whole sound feature is not active yet.

There is a picture of an example of templates that I have placed in QMB in this post: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3266704/Re_Dogfight_109_vs_Spit_1.html#Post3266704

I ran many iterations of the new "Black Death" track. I found stuttering and pausing was substantially improved.

The rotary could not re-circulate oil,so it had to dump it out onto the airframe. Castor oil, consequently, covered the entire aircraft after a short time. Even worse, atomized caster oil blew into the cockpit and impregnated the pilot. Pilots needed scarves to clean their goggles and faces. Since castor oil is a laxative, pilots suffered serious consequences after a few hours of flight. But such was the need for maximum power

Never in the field of flight simulation has so much been nerfed, for so many....by so few smile

17.5% increase in disillusioned, torpid indifference. Disappointment Voltage spike of 5.2 Nanomoans. 'Care-ometer' registering no change, now defunct.

FPS again substantially worse, continuing the downward trend from the last official patch (beta 14072 was good). Plus point is that things are indeed smoother, with little to no stuttering. I was flying under London bridge with 30FPS not so long ago (14702), maxed out bar forest (low) at 1920x1200, now crawling along at 15FPS with same settings. Anti-Aliasing now works. FFB works, apparent absence of ground FFB effects, but may need some tinkering my end (will try to increase dampening). Still cannot enable Vsync, tried 'use 3D application setting' and 'force' in Nvidia CP, no joy with or without aero, both disabled from launcher exe and in control panel.

Flashing clouds (a new one, both when on the periphery of clouds, and directly flying through. Occasionally they begin flashing at distance, though this is rare.

Tiles now appearing over Channel, never seen these before.

FearlessFrog, yes 'just the facts Ma'am', just saying what I'm seeing. Smile2

Well for me the addition of FFB is the best news in this patch. Now I can enjoy flying using my G940.I got FPS drop averaging around 7FPS so no huge downside, still stutters but I can't say they worse then before .Buildings still look crap and they load too late, sometime I have problem to spot airfield in time.Overall much better experience specially thanks to FFB

@Biggles - I removed my 'Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\cache' directory and that seemed to help with the concreting over of the channel glitch. Might be worth a try.
