Guy's I'm just setting up a coop MP outing for tonight with a few mates and was wondering if there's any good posts or info for setting up the preferences, or any details about hosting.
Of course I'm under the gun and need to learn as much as I can before we get going.

Cheers
Fawlty

My DServer Configurator might help you with setting up the server config. (I hope it still works. I wrote it some patches ago. Please let me know if anything's broken.

Thanks FiveDigits for the info.

Hosting went very well last night, four of us flying with smooth minimal lag.
One of the things I'm not keen on is the way the mission shuts down without our input.

I'm sure there is a timeout setting or something that needs to be set, not fun being in the middle of a good dogfight and having the mission shut down.

Is there a way to setup the options so that the mission will only finish when we hit escape, or is the timer set by the mission builder?

Thanks for the input guys
Fawlty

Bumping this in case any one knows how to extend missions to a point when the user decides to close it out.

Thanks
Fawlty

You can set the mission timeout in the config. I can't tell you which exact value from memory. Try either setting it very high (some hours). Additionally setting it to 0 might be treated as "no time limit". Just try it out. wink If you're not keen on manual editing the config file, try my tool linked above.

Thanks for the help, FD. I'm thinking that by the config, you mean the *.mission files in the data/missions folder. Is that right? We're new to this so we need pictures. WinkNGrin

Anyway, I've looked in those and can't find what entry to change the value of to experiment with this. Am I in the wrong file? And aren't DServer settings different from those we use in the regular MP server?

I am talking about the
Code:
dedicated_config.sds
, a text file in your RoF\data folder. You can open and edit it with any text editor (e.g. Notepad). Or if you feel insecure about manual editing, download and try my DServer configuration tool.
