I don't really think SOW needs its own forum at the moment either, so there

It is not as if we're discussing 20 different topics concerning KoS. We're basically just blabbering on about the morsels Gennadich throws us every week.

You can have a look at the forums at Gennadich.com for more in-depth info.

You are right the IL2 board is very active, we have a large IL2 community here. However there are a lot of members of SimHq that don't frequent this board. I put link in the Red Baron forum to this thread, when it was around 100 posts, because they hadn't seen it.
....and as Jarvis said, someone who doesn't frequent SimHQ regularly has a lot to wade through to catch up on the progress.

We know about the sim but let's not be selfish and surely the Hostage To Fortune holding crew do not need their own forum seize that

I like it all in one topic for now. I can used the watched topic option in the forums and make sure i get all the info.

Nice shots posted. Is that the aurora borealis or city light reflections on clouds? It beautiful either way

One thing that strikes me as a bit strange is the night moon-lit shot. If the moon is the light source for the scene, why are the sides facing us illuminated?

It looks cool though. The idea of night flying with nothing but my eyes to rely on to find the aerodrome will be a challenge. Flaming petrol cans perhaps?

Yeah, being picky the moon should be casting shadows towards the viewer, its about 2x too large as well.

One 68 page thread for everything.
Wouldn't everything be in one place if it had a forum?
Wouldn't being able to have topics make it easier to find information?

It's not like anyone has to go find real estate to build on.....

They could make this a sticky if they don't want to give it a new forum.

Otherwise I think the sim will get less, not more, exposure than with a forum of its own.

This up and coming sim has many admirers, as can be seen from the amount of posts generated already..
C'mon you heads of shed.. sort it out, its proved its worthy of its own forum.
Plus, all its fans already know where its main site is anyway, but it still gets regular hits here every week!

Regards.. Dave S.

There's about 30 posts in this thread since the start of January, around 20 of them are about whether KOTS needs its own forum or not. \:D

The whole purpose of a forum is so that multiple discussions about the same general topic can take place. If you read through the thread you will see how this has happened and how difficult it is to follow the different discussions and nigh impossible to go back and find a piece of info without searching the 60+ pages. Personally, there have been a lot of times I would have posted relevant information re: KOTS but I did not either because I didn't feel like finding this post or it would have interrupted the ongoing discussion.

Been meaning to post this (below) for ages. The pic above of the Camel with bombs reminded me. In the book below V.M.Yeates writes of many bombing missions by Camels with SE5a's providing top cover.

Just finished Winged Victory by V.M.Yeates. A novel based on his recollections of being a Camel pilot in WWI. Absolutely superb. First published in the UK in 1934 and reprinted once in 1969 (Sphere paperbacks). The first edition sold under a thousand copies but at the beginning of WWII a new generation of RAF pilots were paying 5.00 for a copy - 'the only book about war flying which wasn't flannel'. The New York Saturday Review of Literature declared it 'one of the great books of our time' when first published.

From the frontispiece: V.M.Yeates died aged 37 on the 15th of December 1934 of tuberculosis due to war strain, technically known as Flying Sickness D. His log book totalled 248 flying hours in Sopwith Camels on the western Front. He crashed four times and was shot down twice.

If you can get hold of a copy of this book you must read it. I have read many books written by fighter pilots and this is simply the most complete account I have come across.

Edit: available on Amazon UK and US.

RedToo.

How does the book compare to "Tiger Squadron" by Wing Commander Ira Jones? The first half of his book, which dealt with his WW1 exploits, made me fee like I was right behind him in the cockpit.
