I doubt it as they aren't using the IL2 engine any more.

I'm officially looking forward to this more than BOB now.

Se5 cockpit WIP

I wonder what the cannisters are on the rhs. Smoke for marking targets? Grenades?

The Gennadich team seems to have a very good relationship with Lowengrin. UberDemon and others who are experienced with campaign have shown interest. Some are even offering beta programs to that effect it seems.

I'm sure that from running their own servers and ongoing campaigns they will be very aware of the importance of immersing campaigns and act accordingly.

As for seeing terrain and changing engines. Well they just had the merger but had been working towards this. I'm sure they will show us something when it is ready to their satisfaction.

Releasing alpha screen shots which do not live up to expectations is always a messy business with many taking the pics as the finished project; causing arguments and mistaken impressions down the road.

Considering the work on the airframes, I'm willing to patiently wait this time around.

We've had to learn to be so patient, eh Dantes!

Mogster, those cannisters show the percussion side of individual red, white, and green signal flares, to be fired by the pilot (the flight leader) using his hand-held flare pistol.

Possible signals, differentiated by colors:
"reformate"
warning:"enemy in proximity"
rallying:"joining/combining with friendly formation"
upon landing:"damaged/wounded flight members in-bound"

Here's an example of a German WWI flare pistol:

And a bloody British Webley:

would be ultracool to have these flares implemented in-game.

Yea, you say that now but wait until you shoot down your wingman with a flare and see what happens! \:D

So we will be getting observers? Thats good.

What about having the AIs heads turn like they do on 'Wings over Vietnam' game? That would add allot of realism to the game.

I could not agree more, and when you look down at the rack you see the cartridge missing, that would be cool.

You can turn your pilots head in Lock On as well, I think AI pilots look at their target in FB but I'm not 100% sure. In Lock On if you switch to external your pilots head is facing the direction that you've been looking in. Its nice for screenies, it makes the pilots look more human if they face the camera. You can see how the pilots head is turned in this shot. The posture of the pilots in Lock On is far better than in FB, they look very real. FB pilots look like shop dummies sat in the cockpit, their posture just isn't correct, they always seem to be sat too high and too forward as well. Sometimes it spoils the look of FB screenies.

What is the Java? ALL of what Oleg supplied?

I would be surprised if it is no more than communication between the black box file(s) and your code, so embed the JAVA into the C++ or whatever you're using. And how much is the communication between FM module and your code like the socket for devicelink?

In IL2 series, they use the FM modules directly or by this java inteface?

I hope the new FM will be up to the expected quality of the IL2 FM engine.

Petrovich coded the AFM for Lock On's Su25. The flight modelling is excellent, incredibly detailed and the feel of flying a heavy jet is wonderfull.

There's no reason to believe that he wont create something as spectacular for GT.

Very nice SE5a!!

I do believe the a/c modeling will be wrapped shortly - and that we will soon see some "in-game" shots.

Given Viks comments in the past, I for one am optimistic that we will be wowed and soon.

Yes - it's the finished model of the Caquot Kite Balloon - and the modelling is up to its usuual high standards.

Now that GT and D-Strict have merged into one team. I'm thinking that the terrain will be very much along the lines of what D-Strict had already put together
