The idea apparently was to offer the customer an easy-to-use distribution model that would offer decent download performance and manageable costs for ED while not forcing the customers to rely on 3rd party software. You could see for example with the latest BMS release that even a number of dedicated flightsim fans on this forum were reluctant to use the torrent distribution method, so the idea of some kind of an "integrated torrent updater" isn't that bad per se. It if was working properly.

They already admitted on the forum that they greatly underestimated the demand and made a couple of errors regarding the torrent-based DCS updater.

Here's hoping that future releases will go much smoother.
