Managed to binge my way through Peaky Blinders six seasons. Didn't mind the first three seasons, but the last three were a bit 'meh'. Have to admit the weird choices for music stayed weird...and was wondering where the heck all the music from 1919-1933 went. Oil well.

I don't recall any eye dominance issues being dealt with in Top Gun.

That's because in a team of two, both dominant eyes belong to Tom Cruise.

My son got me " Project Hail Marry " on blue ray disc for Father's Day but he is waiting for release and delivery, while waiting watching " Passengers ", now, already saw it too many times but that's what I put on. My wife makes fun of me because she says I always watch the same movies and over again. I am looking forward to PHM but I read reviews on how it hops around randomly, I like linear movie plots but I'll give it a shot for sure

Ah so that’s what Armie Hammer is doing these days: acting in low budget indie films that are quickly forgotten about shortly after release.

Citizen Vigilante may be timely, but it's bad. And not in a fun way, it's just boring. For entertainment you'd be better off watching The Boondock Saints, Death Wish or one of the many other films that covered vigilante topics way better.

Yes, however it was much better than expected for a Uwe Boll movie.

In his defense, this one was merely bad rather than abysmal.

He came out of retirement and funded this with his own money. I suppose considering the shoe string budget and compared to his earlier works, with that as the bar, this pretty good.
I'd still recommend skipping it for a better movie unless, for some reason, you're a huge fan of his. It's not that it's really bad, it's just that usually with his movies they're so bad it's kinda fun to watch or make fun of, but this is just competent enough to fall into a sort of boring category. Maybe it's worse because of that.

lol I saw it too last night. It's pretty bad.

To add something positive to the conversation, I liked these ones this past week:
Ziam - Thai action / horror, not particularly smart but the fights were great. Great martial arts choreography in the last let's say 20 years in movies from those parts of the world, perhaps starting with Ong-Bak, which looking it up it's from 2003. Man time flies.
Pressure - interesting film with Brendan Fraser about the weather for D-Day of all things. I did not expect to enjoy this but I did.
Tuner - a heist movie I guess with a twist. Nothing fancy, nothing groundbreaking, still liked it.

From WIKI about that Apache Top Gun copycat Fire Birds movie

Quote
Filming for Fire Birds was shot primarily on location in Tucson Arizona at Pima Community College as well as at Fort Hood, Texas army installation, home of the Army's Apache Training Brigade (21st Cavalry Brigade (AIR COMBAT) Extensive aerial stunt sequences were coordinated with the National Guard of the United States, the United States Army and the United States Air Force. Between technical advisers, stuntmen, and pilots, over 100 personnel were directly involved in the production aspects of the film.[6] AH-64 Apache, UH-60 Blackhawk, AH-1 Cobra, MD Helicopters MD 500, OH-58 Kiowa, and Saab 35 Draken aircraft were employed during filming. Technical assistance from McDonnell Douglas service representatives was also utilized during production. The helicopter training aerial stunt sequences were designed by Richard T. Stevens who also coordinated visuals for the film, Top Gun. Scenes from the movie, also features as static shots from MicroProse Gunship 2000 computer game

Tried to watch Avatar Fire and Ash which dropped Friday on Disney+. It's the same as the other 2 Avatar movies. Blue people vs Earth People.

I gave up after 40 minutes and went to play Madden on my laptop.

Like my Dad said after we watched the first Avatar in the theater, it's the same recycled Cowboys and Indians story over and over.

I am surprised when I read online it made over $1.49 billion at the box office.

Peeps pay money to see it, Cameron will continue making them.

Fire & Ash did indeed make a profit but its total box office take was a big drop from the previous movie. It dropped enough to cause concern in the industry.

I walked through the den and caught my wife watching Fire and Ash (I didn't know it was a thing) and it took me all of 15 seconds to catch the woke agenda crap tone.

A Study in Scarlet (Sherlock Holmes) (1933).

I liked it. Not real special -- but, it was made in 1933.

It fits in with my liking to watch "who done it" films that down play violence on the screen (not zero violence -- after all, it is about "murder") and emphasize "thoughtful problem solving".

You should check out “M” starring Peter Lorre. Classic German crime noir film from 1931.
