I'm wondering if you have any success ?

I found flying fighter was more of less possible, as long as you are fast enough to be able to flee and then stay on your airfield AAA dome, but any flight far over ennemy territory is basically suicide, even with easiest difficulty settings.

Flying as a fighter bomber is basically impossible for more than a few flights, unless you refuse to fly any mission that gets further than 30kms over ennemy lines.

After refusing to fly a bunch of these (which is a burden too, since it takes forever to generate, load, stop the mission as soon as it started, and get to the next mission, even with a SSD and a current CPU), I decided to try my luck on an "attack ennemy troops", 70kms into the ennemy lines in Normandy, aug 44.

AFAIK, Luftwaffe was almost non existent by then over Normandy, with only a few raids being flown in gigh numbers to gain a local superiority.

Now what happened in the game:

1/ we were attacked as soon as overflying the frontline, our escort fought bravely and won.

2/we were attacked a second time, closing onto the target: this time our escort was overwhelmed, and while keeping formation when I glanced back, I saw fighters closing on US, still quite far but clearly gaining. I saw our squadron of Typhoons having ZERO reaction, therefore I elected to jettison my bombs and try to provide some form of escort, when the ennemy would inevitably be in shooting distance of my sleeping squadron.

To my horror, I saw the ennemy fighters coming for ME and me only, and my hard breake at the last moment did indeed deny them first shot, but with tow on one it was only a matter of seconds before I got dispatched, dead instantly.

I really feel cheated with this career mission generator, it doesn't seem having seen any improvement in matter of difficulty settings nor AI fighter bomber reaction to being jumped.

I'll now try my luck with PWCG, but if you have any tip on how to overcome the dreadful odds this generator gives us, I'd be happy to try to apply them. It's really sad, with the work that has been done into the pilot Bios, the news, the research on squadron's airfields and mission types, that I can't seem to enjoy it at all. I remember having fun with 46, not so much with GB.

What is your experience and how does it affect your will to buy further products ?

Lol, once the AI find a Player target they all go for the same target and forget everyone else, Player and AI. Does not matter, MultiPlayer, Single Player, Campaign, once they latch onto a target it seems that all of the enemy AI latch onto that Human target.

Here is an online session from about three years ago where the AI aircraft focused on one Player to the exclusion of everyone else.

I would embed the video in the post but there is no way to keep the size of it reasonable.

I used to fly career mode but got bored with single player. 95% of my PC flight sim time is online cooperative. It’s been that way for at least one year.

That's the best way to enjoy it imho.

Sadly with my present flight schedule it's quite difficult to join my group's activities.
