What caught my special interest in this video is that so many Americans view NYC as being this huge megalopolis but in reality it only barely makes this list at #49. I wonder how many cops and firefighters work in Tokyo? It must be a mind-boggling number.

In my lifetime, (born 1950) the city of my birth has descended from the largest in area and population down to almost the bottom of the league, It would be interesting to know the population density of these cities and the average income.

Though born in London, I wouldn't want to live there now. However, my youngest daughter loves it, despite incidents as seen here illustrated. Her cat and housemates rudely awakened by a knife crime arrest unfolding outside their door two days ago (see time stamp). Jenny is fortunately in the Jungle of Costa Rica at the moment. She is probably safer there than in Whitechapel, East London, where she resides. 88 crimes in a mile radius, mainly 'theft from person'. Where we live, none. Though we did have some escaped lambs rampaging through the village!
I think of India and China as most overpopulated (in an absolute population size way), and they are well represented in the City Chart.
China once lead and instituted a one-child per family rule for quite a while in an attempt to keep population in-check. India let it roll, and caught up with China in approximate Population.
In my opinion, the Earth's most threatening aspect is it's vast overpopulation. India and China each have more people than the whole planet can support. There were some "thinkers" who warned of that back when there were only 750 million total Earth Population -- now, its 8,000 million.
The attached shows how China leveled off a bit, while India caught up. Also, how swift the rise has been in the last -60 years.

Several 1st World and Eastern European countries have been declining in population for decades like Japan, Ukraine, Russia and most of the other former Soviet republics but I just can't see how the population in Africa and Asia will decline short of a major catastrophe like nuclear war or widespread famine.

My wife's brother and his family were mugged at knife-point in the metro in Paris the previous Summer. The motive? The group of hoodlums wanted their IPhone.
