I like both visions but I will break it down a bit more:
The Villeneuve version is much more faithful to the novel but the overall aesthetics, music and production design I don't find to be all that compelling. It falls short in the "world building" category.
The Lynch version makes some major changes from the novel but the "world building" aspects I mentioned before like the aesthetics, production design and music are VERY well executed.

Saw the original in a theatre and that usually makes it better. Also since it was first it kind of biased me to what it should be. I liked the steampunk look to many of the devices.
The Villeneuve production didn’t draw me in as much because it seemed the dialogue was muted and everything was said so softly or in a whisper. With my bad hearing I had to struggle. But if I turned up the volume the sound effects were too loud. The actors mostly seemed drowsy with little life to them. The beginning was paced too slowly. The fighting scenes just seemed odd to me, almost cartoonish. And they changed the storyteller from Princess Irulan to Chani and I felt that wasn’t right. I saw it on tv rather than the theatre and I’m sure that affected my satisfaction.
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.
We should also mention the Dune mini-series from the SyFy Channel which came out in 2000. It was a mini-series so it was very faithful to the novel but the big problem with that production is that it often looked more like a stage play than an epic film. The limitations of the budget were quite apparent.

To give credit where credit is due (albeit "credit" might be a bit of a misnomer here), the F-35 sequences in this fan-made (?) video are blatantly ripped from infamous Battlefield 2042 game trailer from two years back. Even Bollywood script writers are reluctant to this level of bulshittery (although they're not far off sometimes ).
Back on topic, anyone here has seen the "Ferrari" movie yet? I'm thinking about it, but prefer to ask community in fligth and race-sim forum, 'cause "casual" folks have different perception.

Hopefully it won't be necessary . I dragged my GF to see "Godzilla Minus One" even though she wouldn't touch any monster move with a long stick. Neither would I to be honest, but I've heard so much good about it that we got curious and decided to give it a try. Was a good decision and we both enjoyed the movie so much that I don't have to do the "chick flick" payback .

I'm glad that worked out well for you! A few years ago I dragged my wife to go see "Rush" with me and she said it was 2 hours of pure torture. As penance I had to see "Pitch Perfect 2" with her.

They are considered poor for financial reasons, not quality reasons. In other words, these are films that could be quite good but have very limited mainstream appeal.

I really don’t care. Jar-Jar and the Ewoks pretty much ruined Star Wars for me.
JarJar and the Ewoks never bothered me, I took them as comic relief. I was turned off by (Google to remember titles...) "Revenge of the Sith". And by everything that came after except for "Rogue One" and the Han Solo movie which I guess I was the only one to like that one.
