Remember when we used to have one of these threads every time there was a sale? It would be many pages long as people bought games back then

So for old time's sake, what did you get?

I had some long looks and considered a bunch of games, but only pulled the trigger a few times.

One game I've had on my wishlist for a while is Old World. It's said to be a cross between Civ and Crusader Kings, which seems a delicate blend. I'm a big fan of Civ, and a little less so on Crusader Kings. I prefer Europa Universalis in the Paradox stable. CK is a bit too volatile, which upsets the strategical order in my brain. So a Civ game with these elements might not be quite right for me either, but the comments and reviews are excellent and I love me some 4X.

I also picked up the newest reserve in Call of the Wild, an Australian reserve called Emerald Coast. Not keen on kangaroos, but there are several deer species and the terrain is convincing and nicely done.

For my other hunting game, Way of the Hunter I picked up the new Africa reserve, Tikamoon Plains , although that turned out to be free with the season pass. So with that money still in hand I bought the Steyr rifle pack which brings several nice new rifles, and a .270 bolt that I've been asking for.

I added the 2023 GT World Challenge pack for Asseto Corsa Competizione.This adds three new cars and a track. Ferrari 296 GT3, Porsche 911 (992) GT3 R, Lamborghini Huracàn EVO2 and Circuit Ricardo Tormo - Valencia.

The 296 is one of my very favorite cars, now that Ferrari have moved on from the amazing naturally aspirated V8s like the 458. If it has to be a hybrid, let it be like this.

Same as last year I think...nothing. Getting old and losing interest in something you really loved and enjoyed...sucks

Having said that I did pick up The Invincible recently from Steam, it just wasn't in the sale.

None thiis time as have been traveling.

I'll probably mostly play Bannerlord and Star Citizen on the G9 ultrawide, along with some Cyberpunk, finally.

I haven't lost interest, my standards of gameplay have simply risen immensely.

I got Starfield. It was only 20% off but I've been wanting to get the game anyway and the big patch/update came out as well.

Not a single thing...

The irony is not lost on me that the last two articles on the SimHQ main webpage are about Steam sales.

On Steam I upgraded Hitman into Hitman World of Assassination, I originally only had Hitman from a few years ago before they rolled 1-3 all into the World of Assassination.
Got a Mig 21 in DCS as well.

Probably should have skipped them and just picked up The Last Train Home instead. The demo I played was pretty good.

Nothing. I have the games I want for now.

However, I do shop sales.

Same. And some rocket designer game (not kerbal) but only because I got some custom dealer because I had another developer game which knocked a few bux off to make it next to nothing.

Not too bad, a few games bought. An equal number of abstainers.

I still like gaming as much as I ever did and no signs of slowing down. Yesterday I crossed the line fifth at Silverstone in a Formula 1 car, harvested deer in Australia, ran around shooting and looting stuff in West Virginia, and assassinated a man in Argentina disguised as a sommelier. Even found time to visit Los Santos for the first time in ages.

I bought Half-Life: Alyx for about $20. I have my daughters old Quest 2 to try and play it with.
