Finished last week: Perry Mason played by Raymond Burr (1957 to 1966 = 271 45 minute episodes) about a Los Angeles criminal defense lawyer. Based on detective fiction by Erle Stanley Gardner.
While watching the 271 originals, we also rewatched (months later) about 165 episodes -- total to date over 430 episodes watched or re-watched.
Turned out to be our favorite detective series (of the many we're watching). We watch for the entertainment and passing time of the moment -- that 45 minutes. We don't analyze or memorize.

Raymond Burr died of liver cancer after the 26th episode -- the last 4 movies had other Lawyers in place of Perry.
Raymond Burr weighed over 350lbs by the end of his life. He had been obese virtually all his life since birth (he lost 100lbs to get the original Perry Mason part). His poor physical shape detracted from the movie episodes in a couple ways.
My wife and I have been watching "Eureka" the past few weeks. It's silly, over the top scifi but funny.

Vietnam vet John Kreese, I mean John Steele, takes on the Vietnamese mafia, who at times wield Japanese ancient Japanese weapons, to fit in with the Ninjamania fad of the times of course.
Yeah so, it's bad, almost Commando Ninja or Kung Fury bad '80s action parody tier, but no, they were actually serious.

So much drama and legal fights and then later bitter battles between the producers Saltzman and Broccoli in late 1960 to early 1970, it a miracle the Bond books were ever made into Dr. No and then continued on into the 1970 with Moore.
After the Lazenby debacle, the Bond series almost died if it wasn't for United Artist president luring Connery back one more time for 1.25 million pounds.
Then Moore first 2 film were very poorly received by the critics, it's another miracle he was able to make 5 more.
Both Live and Let Die and Man with the Golden Gun did well at the box office so what the critics said mattered very little.

The James Bond series of theater movies was one of our all-time favorites.
We've watched some in the theater; and, virtually all of them as DVDs (a few more than once).
As with most series, some plots were better than others; and, some actors were not good for the part (in our opinion).
The last Bond film I saw in a movie theater was SPECTRE back in 2015.

Agreed on Moore. In retrospect there is a lot of campiness in some of his movies but AT THE TIME he was the right actor for the role.

Just watched the first two episodes of Reacher. Good fun so far, and the actor playing Reacher is a much better representation of the character from the books than Tom Cruise was, even though I enjoyed those two movies as well. Going to watch both seasons, I like this show.
In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!
Reacher I found to be great. I did enjoy the movies, the second not so much, but Alan Ritchson played a much better Reacher in my opinion. Also, Willa Fitzgerald is cute.
If you watch Jaws backwards, it's a heart warming story about a shark that spits out so many people that they have to open a beach.

Bought and watched John Woke 4. Need I say more? Should have saved my money. Bad Blade! Granted, these movies are not classics, but for the record I liked I & II and stomached III and should have know IV would receive the Hollywood Social Media PCness thrashing. Oh well, that's 2 hours of my life I can't get back. Bad Blade!!!
I'm still eagerly awaiting the National Geographic documentary on the presidency of William Henry Harrison. Surely that will draw in big viewer numbers.
